If your loved one had a gun, or a gun collection, and you don't want to keep the gun(s), you can contact the San Diego Sheriff's Department, or your local city police department.

We recommend you call ahead and explain that you want to turn in the guns.  In most cases, you will want to leave the weapons in your trunk when you go to the Sheriff or police station, go inside, and tell them you have brought the guns to turn in, etc.  This easily eliminates any misunderstandings or stress for you.

Periodically, the San Diego County Sheriff Department or local police departments will run a gun collection program and offer gift cards in exchange for guns.  These collection program dates are advertised in local newspapers and online.  Again, call ahead for more details.
